Your data, handled with care.
1. Who we are
Earlybird is run by [Registered company name] (company number [Company number]), registered at [Registered office address]. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Questions about your data can go to [privacy@your-domain].
2. What we collect
- Account details. Your name, email address and password (stored by our sign-in provider, never in readable form), and whether you signed up as a buyer or a developer.
- Things you do on the site. Homes you save, searches you run while signed in, and the interest you register in a development.
- Developer details. Company name, the developments you list, and the information you give us to verify that you represent them.
- Messages and requests. Anything you send us, including listing removal requests.
- Technical data. Your IP address, browser type and basic usage information, created by our hosting and security systems when you visit.
We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18, and the service is not meant for them.
3. How and why we use it
We only use personal data where the law lets us. In practice that means:
- To run your account and the service (contract): signing you in, saving homes, passing your enquiry to the developer you chose.
- To keep the site safe and working(legitimate interests): preventing abuse, fixing errors, understanding what is and isn’t working.
- To meet legal duties (legal obligation): such as keeping records and responding to lawful requests.
- To send you marketing (consent), only if you ask for it. You can withdraw consent at any time.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for automated decisions that significantly affect you.
5. Information about homes and developments
The home and development facts on Earlybird are about property rather than people, and come from publicly available listings and from developers themselves. If something about you appears in a listing and you want it changed or removed, use our removal request form.
6. How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is open and for a short period afterwards in case of disputes. Records we need for accounting or legal reasons are kept for as long as the law requires. When we no longer need data we delete it or make it anonymous.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the data we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your data, or restrict how we use it;
- stop using it for marketing, or for purposes based on our legitimate interests;
- move your data to another service.
Email [privacy@your-domain]and we’ll respond within one month. If you aren’t happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
8. Security
We use access controls, encrypted connections and a reputable sign-in provider to protect your data. No online service is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes we’ll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, tell you directly.
